What began as a 100-word competition entry grew into my first published novella.

The First Rung is a psychological fantasy about memory, identity, and the fragile line between reality and imagination. After a diving accident leaves Hulda in a coma, she awakens in a mysterious kingdom where every step she takes raises a single question: Which world is real?

Writing this story has been an incredible journey of learning, rewriting, and discovering just how much patience storytelling demands. I’m delighted to finally share it with readers and hope you’ll enjoy Hulda’s journey as much as I enjoyed writing it.
